Ritta Co.,Ltd

The story of Ritta began in a no-frill shophouse in uptown Bangkok with the FOUNDERS of five,Mr. Suwat Chaopricha, Mr. Uthorn Phusitkanchana, Mr. Kamol Opaskitti, Mr. Arak Sasipongpreecha, and Mr Kajonsit Singsansern , all of whom met each other in a Japanese construction firm while working on the first tunnel project in Thailand. They decided one day – long after the completion of such work – to start their own company and called it “Ritta”. The name means “power” in Sanskrit, and they chose the Magic Monkey, “Hanuman” as its corresponding logo symbolizing the connotation. The enterprise at the start could only afford a mezzanine with no window in that shophouse. The capital registration was one million baht, and they started off as a subcontractor to larger main contractors…

35 years later, Ritta now is the largest Thai Main Contractor in the private sector covering a full spectrum of constructions – i.e., residences, hotels, schools, hospitals, factories, data centers, shopping malls, retail super stores, high-rises, and many more – with annual turnover of approximately 15 billion baht and over 1,800 staffs. The backlog today, in the early of 2022, amasses handsomely to almost 30 billion baht!

In the early days of Ritta, construction sites are mostly petrochemical projects and foreign-owned factories in industrial estates where the Ritta crews had to practice strict safety protocols according to international standards. This has instilled workplace safety in Ritta’s culture as its highest priority from then to now. Day-by-day, through relentless pursuit of equitable business practices, Ritta has been blessed with valued and repeat customers and, as importantly, good staff members – most of whom are still with the company. The big break for Ritta came during the 90’s – the time that foreign-branded “modern trade” superstores were mushrooming all over Thailand. Ritta was able to secure most of the market shares of such rapid spurt – perhaps up to 90% of the expansion during the decade. The fight for fast establishments among the retail chains had forced Ritta to hone specific construction skillsets and characters – so much that it became widely known and accepted as the FASTEST builder in Thailand. Its current motto “making the impossible POSSIBLE” was given to Ritta by one of the large international clients in recognition of ahead-of-plan and below budget deliveries. Those days were the golden era in the company’s history

Shortly after the “Tom Yam Koong” financial crisis in 1997, when most of the competitors weakened or even died off, Ritta was among the very few that sprung back to its feet running. 15 years after the crisis, Ritta has grown its annual revenue by approximately 15-fold. Since then, Ritta has ventured into Bangkok’s inner city and CBD capturing high-end, high-rise hotel and condominium projects along the main streets and prominent BTS stations. At the same time, the company was still able to serve its valued repeat customers in other sectors such as hypermarkets, warehouses, factories, hospitals outside Bangkok. In the 2000’s Ritta is widely considered a “top tier” main contractor among the developers for its QUALITY and its “safety-tidy-and-clean” values. The company has also secured the first place in term of annual revenue in Thailand’s private sector for many years since. Today, Ritta’s 14-rai 10,000 sqm office houses over 400 supporting staff members, along with probably the largest BIM center among any contractors in Thailand, is LEED GOLD certified. It boasts an air-conditioned gymnasium, a full-size football field with jogging track. The building itself is cladded with green-tinted glass façades all around the perimeter offering the panoramic views of its lush surrounding to all the workers. Coming such a long way from the shophouse’s mezzanine with no window where the FOUNDERS and employees started from. Today, Ritta also owns logistic centers, a precast factory, a steel fabrication factory, an upcountry training center with living quarters, even a full-size sports complex.

Although recently, Mr. Suwat, Mr. Uthorn, Mr. Kamol, Mr. Arak, and Mr. Kajonsit all has essentially taken the back seats to let younger generations take the wheels, Ritta still is maintaining its quest for excellence as it was intended to since the start. The Ritta Holdings company with board of directors that incorporates independent directors and shareholders has been established. This to ensure Ritta’s management meet the desired KPIs and attain long-term sustainability goals for shareholders, stakeholders, employees, clients – AND continue to make the impossible POSSIBLE for the future to come.
