UNHCR is the UN Refugee Agency and takes the lead in providing international protection for more than 89.3 million refugees and displaced people worldwide.

Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) is a fast growing global division with offices across the world. UNHCR has developed a private sector engagement strategy to achieve, by 2025, the long-term goal of maximizing sustainable and flexible contributions from the private sector to raise $1 billion annually.

In Thailand, PSP has been achieving outstanding results since its establishment in May 2008 through its diversified fundraising channels; face to face, digital, direct mail, direct response TV and multi-channels programmes. Due to the size of the database and the diversity of the donors recruited, the office also operates a complex donor development strategy which requires an additional workforce to implement the plan effectively. The mid-level donor development or middle donor programme has grown substantially since the pilot project in 2020. It is expected to have substantial growth in the future.

To continue the successful expansion, PSP Thailand is now looking for a highly motivated and results driven fundraising professional capable of providing a meaningful mid-value donor journey and building relationships with existing mid-value donors and prospects, and finally successfully transitioning mid-value donors to major donors.

2. Purpose and Scope of Assignment

Under the supervision of the Assistant PSP IG Officer (Donor Development and Retention), the contractor will perform the following responsibilities:
• Assist the Donor Development and Retention team to cultivate a portfolio of mid-level donors who give between $1,000 and $10,000 per year to achieve total $130,000 income generation from Middle donor programme
• Identify prospect mid-value donors that include Individual Giving donors who give $500-$999 and new audience to migrate them to the middle donor programme pipeline
• Closely coordinate with Private Partnerships & Philanthropy (PPH) in identifying potential major donors (who give more than $ 10,000 annually) among the mid-value donor pool and facilitating the migration.
• Utilize a variety of donor communication techniques including custom proposals, personalized communications, impact report, individual meetings and exclusive event arrangement etc. to cultivate relationship with mid-value donors
• Implement donor development strategy and fundraising activities through integrated channels including direct mail, telemarketing, email and SMS
• Carry out the day-to-day coordination and communication with PSP Thailand, PSP HQ and external vendors that support the donor development programme
• Liaise with and update all UNHCR PSP teams on donor development activities and maintains regular contact with the HQ fundraising communications team and the donor acquisition team in order to gain insights that help build more relevant donor development communications
• Act as a focal point for communications from/to the middle donor group.
• Ensure complete stewardship calls are made and customized acknowledgment letters are sent for mid-value donors and prospects
• Track KPIs and key metrics of middle donor programme against year over year target and accurately report the performance to PSP Thailand
• Coordinate with the Database and CRM focal point for any relevant reporting and analysis of donor development activities in order to evaluate performance and enhance future growth
• Support UNHCR’s donor development and fundraising events
• Perform other duties as required

3. Monitoring and Progress Controls
(Clear description of measurable outputs, milestones, key performance indicators and/or reporting requirements which will enable performance monitoring)
• Timely coordination of donor development project for middle donors and prospects which result in all communications reaching donors on time and as defined in the annual plan
• Support Assistant PSP IG Officer (Donor Development and Retention) to ensure that income generation from middle donor portfolio is delivered according to the target
• All defined key performance indicators for the middle donor programme including income generation and donor’s feedback analysis are measured and reported accurately to PSP Thailand

4. Qualifications and Experience

• Completion of Bachelor’s degree in mass communication, Liberal Arts, Advertising, Marketing or related fields

b. Work Experience

• At least 1 year of experience with Bachelor Degree or higher, in donor or customer development and/or marketing, communications
• Proven experience in providing functional guidance to donor care or customer service team is desirable
• Proven experience in private sector fundraising to individuals or direct marketing in a business to consumer environment is desirable

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is offering a PSP Associate (Outbound Communications) position within the APAC regional team of Private Sector Partnerships Service. UNHCR is a global organization dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights and building a better future for refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people. Every year, millions of men, women and children are forced to fl ee their homes to escape confl ict and persecution. We are in over 130 countries, using our expertise to protect and care for millions. UNHCR is almost entirely funded by voluntary contributions from governments and private donors.
This role is part of the Private Sector Partnership (PSP), part of the wider Division of External Relations (DER) section. The regional digital team based in Bangkok ensures our core audiences are delivered high quality user experience across APAC, to meet its digital objectives (fundraising, advocacy, engagement). The team also runs remote digital programs across the region.
Under the overall supervision of the Digital Marketing Offi cer, and working closely with the Asia Hub Manager the newly created role will further develop the remote marketing automation and donor care to existing donors. Using the global outbound marketing platform to its fullest, championing new features, functionalities and bringing the donor development and supporter experience strategy to life on various digital outbound channels (mainly email and Facebook remarketing).

• Translate, design and build donor and supporter journeys into concrete multichannel journeys and automation.
• Set up and implementation of A/B tests for campaign optimization.
• Develop and support the implementation of a testing roadmap to ensure optimization performance of outbound messaging journeys.
• Develop and update technical and tactical documentation across all outbound marketing platforms.
• Provide feedback to the global team, and make recommendations, to roll out new features and functionalities.
• Analyse, generate and present regular reports focusing on outbound marketing communication results, marketing campaigns and programs and providing suggestions and recommendations for improvements.
• Develop and provide regular verbal and written reports on key outbound marketing KPI’s.
• Keep abreast of marketing automation, outbound marketing, new trends, AI and machine learning related innovations and identify opportunities for UNHCR.
• Ensure that all outbound campaigns conform to the best practices in the industry including data protection and security.
