This is a story of how Chandrachur Paul connects his passion and fascination to his field of study that led him in securing his dream job. His narrative is a testament that the integration of grit, tenacity, and creativity can bring you to where you want to be.
I’ve always been fascinated by how large businesses operate—their processes, revenue generation models, and the value they deliver. However, I also wanted to work in a domain that aligns with my academic background in Mechanical Engineering. Through my research, I identified Supply Chain Management as a field where many companies, despite having strong demand, often struggle due to inventory shortages. This challenge is common across consumer and manufacturing brands and is what inspired me to pursue a career in this domain.
Motivated by this, I joined the M.Eng. in Industrial Engineering program at AIT. During my time there, I explored the entire supply chain spectrum—demand planning, production planning, and product development. Dr. Pisut Koomsap’s course on product development and additive manufacturing stood out for its focus on critical thinking, design innovation, and communication, rather than just exams and lectures. I also gained valuable insights from Dr. Huynh Trung Luong’s courses on supply chain and inventory management, and I had the privilege of working with him as my research advisor.
In addition, I benefited greatly from the guidance of visiting faculty at AIT. Professor Aalok Agnihotri from IIM Visakhapatnam taught Supply Chain Management, and Professor Anil Agarwal from IIT BHU taught Operations Research. Their teaching styles and industry-oriented content added immense value to my academic experience each semester.
During my time at AIT, I attended the AIT Career Fair, where I connected with the HR representative from Indorama Ventures. After following up via email, I was invited for an interview and secured a 3-month internship at their Bangkok headquarters. It was a hands-on learning experience where I saw the impact of data-driven decisions on supply chain efficiency and overall business performance.
I graduated from AIT in May 2024. Over the next few months, I focused on upskilling—mastering tools like MS Excel, Power BI, and deepening my supply chain knowledge—while actively applying for jobs. Breaking into the industry as a fresher was challenging, but after three months, I was offered a role at Perfora, a leading oral care brand in Delhi NCR, India, within their Supply Chain Division as a Supply Chain Analyst.
The selection process included three rounds: a preliminary round with HR, a technical discussion with the Supply Chain Lead, and a final round with the founder. The interview process was well-structured and centered around an assignment that tested supply chain knowledge and critical thinking. I also appreciated the constructive feedback shared during the interviews, which made it a learning experience. Two days after the interview process, I was offered the position, which marked the beginning of my professional journey.
